Our History

Jonathan Losee Ltd. was incorporated in 1993.

But how did Jon catch the landscape design bug to begin with?

Life & Natural Sciences
First, after studying life sciences in high school to studying botany, biology, zoology, and the natural sciences at Montana State University, Jon moved on to a program in Recreation Area Management, which focused on ecology, agronomy, park planning, and management.

Art & Applied Science
Next, at Washington State University, Jon was introduced to landscape architecture. He began integrating his comprehensive science studies with horticulture and design and, suddenly, the potential of combining art and applied science opened up as the career he would pursue.

Craft & Discipline
Jonís related experience is broad and diverse. Working summers for a landscape contractor, he learned the craft of landscaping and got to dig those holes; and later his first professional assignment with an architectural firm in Edmonton taught him to work within the strict discipline of physical, economic, and time constraints.

"It gave me so much insight into how things are constructed, and how hard it is for the person who's digging the ditch and planting the trees and for the person who's tracking the cost." [Jonathan Losee]
